About the Language :
Learning Greek can be an amusing and progressive experience. Koine, an Early Greek dialect, is the source of Modern Greek. In its modern form, Greek is the official language of Greece and Cyprus. It is one of the 24 official languages of the European Union.
History of the Language :
The Greek language's earliest surviving texts date back to 1300 BC. The language evolved into several dialects during the Classical Period of Ancient Greece. During Alexander the Great's reign, the language spoken was Hellenistic Greek. The language in which some parts of the New Testament were written is known as Biblical Greek. During the Hellenistic period, most of the ancient world spoke Attic Greek as a second language. The Byzantine Greek period occurred during the reign of the Byzantine Empire. Following the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1830, the Greek people sought to establish their standard Greek dialect.
