Course Overview
History of Naturopathy:
Naturopathy has its origins in Europe's Natural Cure movement of the nineteenth century. In the 1880s, Thomas Allinson began promoting his "Hygienic Medicine" in Scotland, promoting a natural diet and exercise while avoiding tobacco and overwork. Naturopathy was introduced to the United States from Germany in the 1800s. John Scheel coined the term Naturopathy in 1895, and Benedict Lust popularized it. Known as the "Father of Modern-Day Naturopathy," he was also recognized for disseminating Naturopathy knowledge in the United States in 1992.
