Sanskrit is an ancient Indo-Aryan language, and the Vedas, which are written in Vedic Sanskrit, are its most ancient transcripts. It arose in South Asia as a result of the middle Ages expansion of its forefather languages from the north and west. It is the most ancient Indo-European language with substantial written documentation.
