Course Overview
About the Language :
Hindi is the language of the Indo-Aryan gathering. Persian was used to portray the Indian populace and the local dialects they talked. More than 425 million individuals communicate in Hindi as their first language. 120 million speak Hindi as a second language in India.
History of the Language :
Literary Hindi has been strongly influenced by Sanskrit. Its standard form is based on the Khari Boli dialect, found to the north and east of Delhi. Maithili, the easternmost regional language of the Hindi belt, bears more historical resemblance to Bengali than to standard Hindi. Speaking standard Hindi gives as much status as speaking English in the south of India. Since the 1950s, there has been an increase in the number of native speakers of standard Hindi. In many cases, individuals now have only a passive knowledge of the regional languages.
Origin of the Language :
All of India's languages can be divided into two categories. Hindi, English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Punjabi, and other Indo-European languages are examples. Dravidian languages include Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Prakrit (500 BC – 500 AD) evolved directly from Vedic Sanskrit. It was a common people's vernacular that evolved naturally. Pali, another form of Prakrit, was in use at the time. Apbrunsh was succeeded by Khari Boli (900 AD – 1200 AD). Speaking standard Hindi has the same social standing as speaking English in the south of India. There has been a growth in the number of native speakers of standard Hindi since the 1950s. In several cases, young people today have only a basic grasp of Hindi.
